Reviews of "Life and Afterlife"

Soprano Stephanie Aston has an amazingly versatile voice with much color and sings these tricky songs with so much control and precision. Katalin Lukács played the piano superbly, bringing out many hidden ideas in the piano part. The presentation itself was really well-done, and was accompanied by interactive video projections by New Orleans composer/video artist Peter Leonard.

Astralis’s performance [was] immediately haunting as soon as they began. The combination of the piano’s chord progressions, the incredibly high pitched but pure vocals of the soloist, and the pre-recorded ambient sound was the type of thing that inspires scenes in suspenseful drama and horror films but in a good way. The performance [was] instantly dramatic and emotional.
